This is my first time doing Monthly Recommendations and I couldn’t have picked a better subject.
1. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling)
I have always loved Hermione. I don’t think “strong female leads” need to be physically strong to count in this category. Hermione is wise and doesn’t let what others think of her get in her way. She’s strong, smart, loyal and one of the best female characters ever. Hermione was the one character when I was a kid who I could relate to as a reader, she loved reading and didn’t care that she was seen as a nerd for it. But she’s not just book smart.
2. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling)
Luna is another great character from the Harry Potter series and another example that you don’t have to be physically strong for me to be a “strong female lead.” I always wanted a friend like Luna. She taught me to be okay with being different, that it’s okay to be whoever you are and it’s other people’s problem if they can’t accept my weirdness. I love Luna. I think both Hermione and Luna taught me a lot growing up.
3. Celaena Sardothien (Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas)
Celaena is a badass assassin and at the same time she loves pretty clothes, sweets, reading and puppies. Celaena is proof that you can be both a girl and be powerful.
Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark & Sansa Stark (A Song of Ice and Fire by Gerorge R.R. Martin)
There are a lot of strong females in the A Song of Ice and Fire series but the ones I’ve named are my favourites. I decided to add the others that I think are strong, even if they’re evil, because they’re strong. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Dany, Sansa and Arya.
“All men must die. But we are not men.”
I could sit here for another hour and list so many more female leads that I think are strong but I have to go and be an adult now.
Who are your favourite female leads?
