I started Godsgrave a few of days ago. I haven’t managed to read much because a cat that sort of adopted us (for now anyway) had kittens two days ago so I’ve been a little distracted. But I’m hoping to get back into it now that she seems more settled and has a somewhere to sleep. So we now have four new additions to the family. Not sure how long the mother will stick around but we won’t be keeping any of the kittens once they’re old enough to be re-homed.

Anyway, I think I’vee read around 60+ pages so far and I am enjoying it. I missed this narrator though. I love their sarcasm.

I didn’t post a WWW Wednesday last week because I hadn’t read much and I’d just be repeating myself. So I have finished The Wonderling by Mira Bartok. I think this book was a little too young for me. I do read middle grade sometimes but this was not the kind of book I usually read. It was a cute read and I loved the illustrations but I don’t think I’ll be reading it again.

I’ll talk about this more in my review though. I don’t know when I’ll be posting it because I am behind again.. The joys of adulting.

The other book I read recently-ish was Magus Chase and the Ship of the Dead. This is the third book in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series. I really enjoy Riordan’s DMydKunVQAEvpKObooks. I still prefer the Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus series but I love the diversity in these books. Which I’ll go into more in my review. I have actually written this one already.

Again, I have no idea when I’ll be posting the review for Ship of the Dead but I’m hoping soon. If you love Riordan’s books and haven’t read this series then I recommend picking the first three books up. Annabeth and Percy make an appearance at the start of Ship of the Dead so that’s always a plus for me. I love both Annabeth and Percy. There was also a short story at the end of this edition but I haven’t read it. 7

I think I’ll be reading the Northern Lights graphic novel next. I’ve read the first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy but I can’t remember what happened so this will better than re-reading Northern Lights.

I’m reading The Wonderling at the moment. It’s not really getting me out of my reading slump like I hoped it would but that might be because the story feels too young for me. I mean, it’s cute but at the same time I feel like the story is dragging on. So hopefully I’ll be able to finish it soon and pass it onto someone who will enjoy it.

I’ll talk about this more when I review it but I don’t know when that will be right now. I have actually written a review that I’ll hopefully be posting tomorrow.

I haven’t picked up any other books between The Wonderling and Invictus so this will be another short post. Which is good for me because I have to re-arrange my room today. So another day with no much reading. *sigh*

I did enjoy Invictus. I love books about time travelling. But I think Ryan’s Wolf by Wolf duology is still my favourite out of the books I’ve read. I’ll hopefully be reviewing this soon and get back into blogging now that things have settled down again.

I am planning on picking up Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead next. This series is not my favourite from Riordan but it’s better than The Kane Chronicles and I like reading about the Norse gods.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve been reading.

This is going to be a really short post today. I’ve had some things going on in my life that kept me from reading as well as my crazy annoying reading slump. So I am still reading Invictus. I’m enjoying the story but I’m just getting distracted and have too many things to do so I haven’t had the chance to sit down and just read.

But whatever. I’ll finish it eventually. I have read three of Ryan’s books and I loved the Wolf by Wolf duology. I am looking forward to seeing how Invictus ends.

Not really recently finished but I did finish Genuine Fraud and it was good I guess. When I compare it to We Were Liars it was definitely a little better but I didn’t like any of the characters in this book and I don’t remember liking any in We Were Liars either. Maybe Lockhart’s books just aren’t for me. I’ll probably just stay away from them now. I thought this sounded really good but it just wasn’t for me.

But I’ll talk more about that when I review the book. Whenever that will be. I still haven’t written the review yet.

I don’t know when I’ll finish Invictus yet but the next book I plan on reading is The Wonderling. I think this is a middle grade book but it looks so cute and is not the kind of book I usually read so I’m hoping it may help get me out of this slump. But I’m not holding my breath.

I started Genuine Fraud yesterday and it’s a little weird and I keep losing track of what’s happened because the story is being told in a weird way. I honestly don’t think I’ve read a book that’s told this way before. But I’m not going to say anything here because I’ll be doing a full review eventually.

I’ll hopefully be reading more later today but out of this and the only other book I’ve read by E. Lockhart (We Were Liars) I definitely prefer this one.

I finished The Loneliest Girl in the Universe and I really enjoyed it. I was expecting a twist to the story and it was a really good one! I figured something was up early in the book but I didn’t expect how twisted it was. But I did like it. I mean, I love sci-fi books so I figured I’d like this.

This is the third book by Lauren that I’ve read and I have liked them all. I can’t wait to see what she releases next! If you haven’t read any of Lauren’s books and like time-travel and space then I recommend picking them up. I’ll hopefully be posting my review of The Loneliest Girl in the Universe soon. DJ9ddklUEAACIKF

I also finished Because You Love to Hate Me and I enjoyed that too. I think it’s one of my favourite short story books I’ve read. There were some really good stories. I can’t remember my favourites off the top of my head but I’m sure I’ll have it figured out by the time I post my review.

There are some re-tellings in Because You Love to Hate Me and some original stories. I liked this more than I thought I would.

It’s taken me a while to figure out what I want to read next but I think I’ve finally figured it out. I am planning on reading Invictus next. I’ve read all of Ryan’s books and I’m really looking forward to this one. This has time travel.

I started Because You Love to Hate Me on Monday I think. There are some re-tellings of fairy tales/villains and some original stories. I think there are only three or four authors that have written stories for this book that I’ve actually read before and I only know of three YouTubers too.

I have liked a few stories so far but I don’t want to go into them here. I’ll talk about them in my review. But I will say that this is one of my favourite books with short stories in it that I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more of it later today.

I have finished my re-read of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It seems to have helped me get out of my latest reading slump. Fingers crossed it will stay away this time.

I won’t be reviewing Goblet of Fire because it’s not the first or even second time I’ve read it so I’m completely biased because I love the Harry Potter series.

I do want to continue my re-read of the series but I am behind on my review books thanks to my latest slump so I’m going to give it a few weeks. I’m still reading pretty slowly even though I feel like I’m out of the slump. I don’t know what’s going on with me.

So if you haven’t been reading my posts lately you may have missed that I’ve been in a reading slump lately. I have no idea why. I’ve been reading some pretty good books but I’m still in a slump. So I decided to pick up the next book in my re-read of the Harry Potter series.

I started my latest re-read of the Harry Potter series earlier this year. I think. I haven’t re-read these books in a couple of years according to Goodreads. Which is weird. I usually try to read them once a year. Anyway, I’m up to Goblet of Fire and I can read my new editions too. I put my original copies away in a box because they are getting old and I needed the shelf space. What gets you out of a reading slump?

So I didn’t get to post my WWW Wednesday last week because my laptop decided to upgrade Windows and it took half a day so when it had finally finished I just couldn’t be bothered with it. But luckily for me with my reading slump I haven’t actually read that much in the last two weeks so this isn’t going to be a long post.

Anyway, I’ve finally finished Wonder Woman: Warbringer. It took me a lot longer than I thought it would but it wasn’t the books fault. I really enjoyed Warbringer. It was just my slump or the mood I’m in. I don’t really know. But I will hopefully be reviewing this soon. If you love Wonder Woman then you should definitely pick up a copy. This is the first book in the DC Icons series. I think the next book is a young Batman written by Marie Lu and comes out next year. DIbjfWkUMAAxTEN

The other book I managed to read in the last two weeks was I Am Traitor. I was really looking forward to this because I love alien invasions but it was just okay. I’m not sure if there’s going to be a sequel but I don’t think I’ll be picking it up if there is.

I’ll be posting a full review of this soon-ish so I don’t really want to go into it too much here but I found some of the characters kind of annoying and I just wasn’t really invested in the humans or their story. Or the aliens either. It was just a little weird.

Reading Next – 6
I’m thinking my next read will be Because You Love to Hate Me. I’ve wanted to read this ever since I first heard about it. I love retellings and even though I’m not into villains I’m still interested in reading this book. But if there’s some retelling of Snape and how he’s misunderstood you can forget about it. There will be no changing my mind about him.

See, even though I didn’t post do one of these for a week I didn’t manage to read very much. If you have any tips about how to get out of reading slumps then leave me a comment.

I started I Am Traitor this morning. I think I’ve read one chapter so I can’t really say much about it yet. All I know about this book is that there’s an alien invasion and by the looks of the cover some people are getting sucked up into a spaceship. And I’m assuming there’s something to do with someone (I assume the main character) being a traitor.

Like I said, I haven’t read a lot of this and so far all I can tell is this is following a teenage girl, Amy, and is set in London. Well I think it’s set in London from the cover. I guess I’ll find out more when I actually sit down to read it.

I finished Moonrise yesterday. I would have finished this in one sitting but the say I started it was the Game of Thrones finale and I just couldn’t read after I watched that.

Moonrise follows Joe as he goes to visit his brother, Ed, who is on death row and might be executed in a month. I think it was a month. Anyway, Ed says he’s innocent but Joe’s never asked him what happened. He hasn’t seen his brother in ten years.

Moonrise is written in verse. I think the only other book I’ve read in verse was also a Sarah Crossan book, One, and I loved it. I loved Moonrise too and I will admit that this book made me cry. Not a lot of book have been able to do that. I’ll be posting a review on this soon I hope. DH8o8PzV0AANaMY

I also read And Fire Came Down. This is the sequel to Resurrection Bay which I read a couple of months ago and enjoyed.

Caleb, the main character, is still struggling with the events in Resurrection Bay (I won’t say what because of spoilers if you haven’t read the first book) when a woman he’s never met tries to get his help and dies in front of him. Caleb won’t stop until he finds out who she is and who sent her to him. But Caleb’s search for answers has more consequences than he thought possible.

I hope there’ll be another book after this. I really liked Caleb and his family.

So I’m planning on reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer next. I loved the Wonder Woman movie and have been wanting to read this book for months.

I can’t really remember much about this book other than it follows Diana and some girl who can cause war or something along those lines. To be honest I just saw Wonder Woman and wanted to read it no matter what the story is about. Hopefully I’ll find out soon.

I started Stars Above yesterday. I’ve had this book since it came out but never picked it up to read until now. I’m pretty sure I’d already read Glitches as an e-novella before Stars Above came out.

I’ve been in another reading slump the last few days. I picked up the previous book hoping it would also get me out of my slump and it kind of did, but not really. So I took a break from review books and read two of my books hoping that would help.

Stars Above is full of novellas set in The Luna Chronicles universe. I think there was one story that didn’t involve the characters from The Luna Chronicles (much) but the rest have them in. I don’t know if I’ll be reviewing this or not yet.

So this is the first book I picked up hoping it would get me out of my reading slump because I knew it was a fast read. And I did enjoy reading it again (this is the second time I’ve read it) but I still didn’t feel like reading after I’d finished it.

I know most people just take a break from reading if they’re in a slump but even though I don’t feel like reading I am so bored when I’m at home and not reading. Because the only TV shows I watch are Game of Thrones and Teen Wolf. Anyway, I love the screenplay of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I’ve already reviewed this so I won’t be posting about it again. DHi274BUAAIOPUI

I finally read Tell It to the Moon. This is the sequel to The Moonlight Dreamers, which I read last month and really enjoyed. I was actually surprised by how much I liked both books. But I’ll talk about Tell It to the Moon more in my review. I’ll be posting that very soon because of the giveaway I keep talking about. But I still need to write it first.

The giveaway is for people in New Zealand and Australia. I’ll have more details in my review of Tell It to the Moon though so if you’re interested then keep an eye out for it.

I also finished A Stranger in the House. I think I had like 50 pages when I did my WWW Wednesday post last week so I didn’t have to read much to finish the book. I really DHEFO2EUAAE0b88enjoyed this. And surprisingly I have already written the review. Now I just have to post it. I want to start writing my reviews when I finish the book instead of leaving it too long and then I have no idea what to write… Which is my problem with more than one review.

Okay, so moving on… Like I said I really enjoyed A Stranger in the House. I think it’s a psychological thriller but I haven’t really looked into it. So if you like those kinds of books then I’d definitely recommend finding a copy of this.

I think if I’m out of my reading slump when I finish Stars Above that I’m going to read And Fire Came Down. This is the sequel to Resurrection Bay. I read that a couple of 10months ago and really enjoyed it. I think these are crime books? But again, I haven’t looked up their genre.

I can’t remember what the synopsis said about this book but I know it has some of the same characters from the first book in it. And I’m assuming someone dies. Or maybe more than one person? I guess I’ll find out when I read the book.

I started A Stranger in the House a couple of days ago but I was in a little slump and didn’t want to read the other day so yeah. It had nothing to do with the book though. I just get into these weird moods where I just don’t want to read and it sucks. But I seem to be over it now. Fingers crossed anyway.

So this book follows Karen, her husband and neighbour/friend. Karen wakes up in hospital with no memory of what happened or how she got there. The police think she was up to something but she’s not sure what to believe. It’s been really good so far. I’m hoping to finish it today.

I was sent a copy of The Cause of Death at the start of August from HarperCollins New Zealand. It’s been so long since I read a true crime book. I don’t normally read books straight away but this one just seemed to keep calling out to me. It’s set around where I live too so that was a plus.

Anyway, this book has a few cases that Dr. Temple-Camp was a pathologist for, like devil worshippers, drug mules and spontaneous combustion. Oh, and a high-profile case for the area – the Mark Lundy case. That’s been talked about for years and some people still think he’s innocent.

I really enjoyed this book, even though it was about death and murder. I couldn’t put it down. DGv0q-JU0AEVX0E

I also read I Have No Secrets. This book follows Jemma who has cerebral palsy. She relies on her family and carer for everything as she can’t talk or move. Someone in her life tells her this horrible secret and she can’t do anything about it – probably why they told her – but that may be about to change…

I really enjoyed this. I’ll hopefully be posting a review of this soon but I’d definitely recommend picking up a copy.

I’m going to be reading Tell It to the Moon next. I’ve been talking about a giveaway that I’ll be hosting when I post my review so I thought it was about time I actually read the book.

So that’s my week in book. What have you read recently?

I haven’t taken a photo of my current read yet because the weather is crap and so is my lighting…

Anyway, I started I Have No Secrets this morning. I’m not that far in yet but I like what I’ve read so far.

This book follows Jemma who has cerebral palsy. She can’t move or talk so she relies on her parents and carer for everything. But Jemma is smart and loves to learn. She also knows a lot of secrets – and one of them is so terrible she doesn’t know how to deal with it. But what can she do about it?

I really like Jemma and I am looking forward to finding out more about her and her family. DGajxgdU0AAN5B0

I finished reading Darien: Empire of Salt yesterday and I really enjoyed it. It did take me a while to get into but I think that was because I wasn’t in the mood to read not because of the story.

This is the first book in a YA fantasy series. It follows a few different characters and I was confused what was going on at the start but it did all come together in the end. I’ll be reviewing this soon so if you’re interested in reading that keep an eye out.

I also read The Student by Iain Ryan. This is a very shot book but it felt like there was a DGWQ9JZUQAA9v89lot going on. Murder, drugs, gang members and this one guy is in the middle of it all. Not for anything he’s done but because of the company he keeps and the fact he deals drugs.

I don’t really know what to think of this book. I don’t like drugs at all so I didn’t like the MC for dealing them or his friends for dealing them either. I guess I’ll have to get my thoughts together when I write my review… Or before then actually… Anyway hopefully I’ll get this reviewed soon too.

The Student and Darien: Empire of Salt were also books I read for ARC August. Oh and so is I Have No Secrets. DGB1t_4UwAMwaVm

I finished The Crown’s Game too and I really enjoyed it. It’s not what I was expecting but in a really good way. To be honest I don’t actually know what I was expecting but that wasn’t it.

I can’t wait to read the sequel, The Crown’s Fate, even though I’m like 100% sure how it’ll end for two of the characters. I’m not really into it for the romance or whatever but I do want to see how the story will end. I have no idea when I’ll get to it though.

A Stranger is the House was sent to me from Penguin Random House New Zealand to review. It was a complete surprise but it sounds like something I’ll enjoy reading so I’m looking forward to picking it up.

All I know about this is that a woman is in her kitchen making dinner and then she’s waking up in the hospital with no memory of how she got there or what happened. Her husband doesn’t know what to think but her best friend seems to think she was up to no good.

I can’t wait to find out what’s going on in this book!
