The questions are:
1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I started Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray yesterday. I think this is the first book in a new trilogy/series. But I’m not really sure.

Anyway, this follows Noemi and Abel, who are from enemy planets, as they try to find a way to save Noemi’s planet, Genesis, from Earth. Or something like that. But Abel is a mech, the best mech ever made.

I think I’m 100 pages in and it’s okay. It’s not really holding my attention like her other trilogy did but I am liking it. I’m hoping it’ll pick up soon…

I read Ida a couple of days ago. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this but I did end up liking it.

This follows Ida as she gets lost in another dimension and has to find her way back home.

Ida (the book) is full of diversity which I really liked but I wasn’t really into the story I guess. I don’t know. I’ll hopefully figure it out by the time I review it. Which will be soon I hope. I think I gave this three stars on Goodreads. I just wish some things in the book were explained more….. But that’s all I’m going to say here.

I read Pieces of You by Eileen Merriman over the weekend. It’s a YA novel set in New DCZjHKyUQAAjwEcZealand so that’s awesome. I hardly ever read books set here.

I actually posted my review of Pieces of You yesterday so I really don’t feel like repeating myself in this post. If you want to read my review then click the link here.

I will say that it had some heavy topics in the book, like sexual assault and cutting, but I thought they were both handled well. But if you can’t read those topics then stay away.

Anyway, I think this is a contemporary? I’m not really sure.

16I think it’s about time I finally picked up Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh. I loved her other books, The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger. The world in those books was so addictive and magical. When I heard Ahdieh was writing another book I knew I had to read it. I didn’t even care what it was about.

But, it does sound good and has another strong female lead. I think. I haven’t read it yet. I really hope I can finish Defy the Stars soon and start this.

And, look at that cover! It’s gorgeous!!

So that’s my WWW Wednesday for another week. What have you been reading lately?

DCAdcxrUwAA6CCDI’m not reading anything at the moment. I’ve been sick since the end of last week and I am just so tired and my eyes hurt so I’m not going to pick anything up today. I need a break for now. I know being sick seems like the best time to do nothing and read but not this time.

So I’m just going to leave a shelfie here because I don’t have a book to post. I bought a third bookcase last week and it was put up over the weekend. This isn’t the best photo because not every shelf fits in an instagram photo but oh well. You get the idea. But I am so happy that I have room for more books!!!

I finished The Names They Gave Us yesterday and I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

This book follows Lucy as she comes to terms with her mother’s cancer coming back, being a camp counselor at a “hippie camp” across the lake from her parents’ camp, where she planned to spend the summer. At Daybreak, Lucy meets Jones, a charming and mysterious boy.

So I thought this would be the usual girl meets boy, boy helps girl or changes her life. And yes, Jones did open Lucy’s eyes but there was so much more to the story than the connection between Lucy and Jones. I’ll be talking 2about it more in my review.

I also finished The Cows, which was so good! It’s not YA but I really enjoyed this.

The Cows follows three women, all strangers, who are come into each others lives in the most random and kind of horrible ways. But for some it changes their lives for the better. I don’t want to say too much about this because I will be reviewing it soon but I really, really enjoyed this book. It was a little weird in parts but you’ll have to read it to find out why…

I’ve decided I’ll be reading Ida next. I can’t really remember what this is about but I think it has an LGBT+ character. Or more than one? I’m not sure. I guess I’ll find out when I feel like reading again. Hopefully it’ll be soon because my TBR is crazy long.

So that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week. Fingers crossed I feel better by next week. I’m off to watch some Teen Mom now.

Let me know what you’ve been reading lately in the comments.

2I’m going to start this later today. I haven’t actually started yet though.

I don’t know much about this other than it follows three women in London (I think?) and something tragic/horrific that brings them together. So guess they don’t know each other at the start of the book. But I’m honestly not sure.

I’ve heard really good things about this and it’s been a while since I read an adult fiction book that wasn’t a psychological thriller so I’m excited to finally start it.

I finished One of Us is Lying yesterday and I loved it.

This book starts with five students going to detention and one of them dying. Then everyone is trying to figure out which one of them killed Simon.

One of Us is Lying reminded me a lot of Gossip Girl and even Pretty Little Liars. There’s no texts messages or anything but there are a lot of secrets and obviously a death and a lot of people die in PLL. It’s also been compared to The Breakfast Club and I can kind of see why, I mean they have detention in common, but that’s about it. And I didn’t like 14The Breakfast Club, this book is so much better.

I also read Contagion this week. It was really good. There was a part of the story that annoyed me but I’ll talk about that more in my review.

Contagion follows Shay and Kai as they look for Kai’s sister Callie, who went missing a year ago. Their search takes them across the country and to the heart of a new, incurable, virus. One that’s spreading very fast.

Contagion in the first book in a new series/trilogy (I don’t know) from Teri Terry. I’ve read her Slated trilogy, Mind Games and Book of Lies. I enjoyed them all and can’t wait for the next book to come out. 7

The last book I read this week was Letter to the Lost. This is a contemporary and I haven’t read a lot of them but I really enjoyed this.

It follows Juliet and Declan as they write anonymous letter to each other. They don’t think they know one another in person but they do. Then an event in their past could tear them apart before they have a chance of being together.

I’ll be reviewing this soon hopefully so I’m just going to leave it there for now.

I’ve had a copy of The Names They Gave us for a while now and it comes out sometime this month so I thought it was about time I read it.

I don’t really know much about this other than the main character (not sure what her name is) goes away to a camp for the summer and meets a guy. Oh and I think her mum’s sick or something. I can’t remember much.

I read When We Collided last year and I really liked that so I’m looking forward to reading this soon.

I started Letters to the Lost yesterday and I’m pretty sure I’ll be finishing it today. I probably would have finished it already if life didn’t get in the way of my reading. But whatever.

This is the second book I’ve read by Brigid and I really enjoyed the other book, Thicker Than Water.

This book follows Juliet and Declan as they write letters to each other. But they don’t know they’re writing it the other person, its anonymous. At least at first it is.

I’m really enjoying this so far and can’t wait to see how it ends.

I finished Fatal Crossing on the weekend. This follows Nora as she buys a suitcase in an antique shop and finds some photos of girls in there. In one of the photos are two girls who went missing on a ferry in 1985.

This book started very slow for me and I felt like there were some things I didn’t really need to read about. But I’ll talk more about that and the rest of the book in my review.

When I did get into the story I enjoyed it. But it did take me probably half the book to get used to the flashbacks into Nora’s past. DAYmIy9V0AEZjq6

I also finished A Million Worlds with You last week. This is the final book in the Firebird trilogy and I really, really liked all three books.

I’m not going to say much about this book here because I still have to post my review and it’s the last book in the trilogy. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read these books.

I will say that they are about dimension travel and all the worlds that are included in these books were so descriptive. I didn’t want this book to end but I’m glad I finally read it.

I’ve decided to read Contagion by Teri Terry next. I’ve read Teri’s Slated trilogy and Mind Games so I’m looking forward to reading this.

I’m just going by the sentence on the cover but it sounds like there’s some kind of virus, or contagion, that there’s no cure for so I’m expecting a lot of death.

And I do know that Callie, an 11-year-old girl is missing. But that’s all I know. I didn’t want to know too much before I started this.

What have you read lately?

I started reading A Million Worlds with You earlier this week. This is the last book in The Firebird Trilogy.

I’ve really enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy and I am looking forward to seeing how this will end.

I’m not going to say much about A Million Worlds with You because it’s the last book in a trilogy and I’m not going to spoil things for anyone who hasn’t read the first two books.

I will say that this is about dimension travel and that I was hooked within a couple of chapters of A Thousand Pieces of You. I couldn’t put it down.

I haven’t read a lot in the last week. My reading seems to be slowing down again… I just hope it’s not another reading slump.

Anyway, I read Patrick Ness’s new book, Release. It’s not exactly what I was expecting. Although I don’t really know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. Not that I didn’t like it. It was just a little different..

Release takes place in the space of one day and follows Adam, whose life is about to change, and a ghost who has risen from the lake. Like I said, different. But I did like it. I’ll be reviewing this soon so I don’t want to say too much here.

I haven’t taken a photo of the book I plan to read next but it’s in this pile of books.

I’ll be reading Fatal Crossing by Lone Theils. This follows a journalist, Nora, who discovers a photo of two missing girls in a suitcase. The girls went missing in 1985. Nora is caught up in wanting answers and it leads her to a serial killer who is serving a life sentence. But things are more dangerous than she realises.

I thought this sounded really interesting when I read the synopsis and I like taking a break from reading YA books every now and then.

I started Silver Stars yesterday. This is the sequel to Front Lines and takes place in an alternate universe where women are allowed to fight in WW2.

I’m not that far into Silver Stars, almost halfway, so I can’t really say much about it but I am enjoying it. I also don’t want to give too much away for the people who haven’t read Front Lines yet.

These books follow three young women in the army, Rio, Frangie and Rainy. I really like all of them and am looking forward to seeing what’s next for them. C_G4QWaV0AAadNE

I read Resurrection Bay on the weekend. It’s set in Australia, Melbourne I think., and follows Caleb as he finds his friend dead and goes on a journey to find out what happened to him.

I really liked this book. I saw that it was the first in a series. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a duology/trilogy or longer but it’s the first of something. I’ll have to keep my eye out for the next book because I really liked Caleb and his friends.

I found this really addictive and the twist at the end was really good. I’ll be reviewing this soon. 11

I read Finding Nevo last week and I loved it! I think this is a book everyone should read. It’s full of important topics and has changed the way I see a few things. I’m not saying I had a problem with anyone that’s transgender but, without giving anything away, it changed the way I thought about gender and the way people but men and women in certain boxes. But I’ll talk more about that and the book in my review. Which I will be posting soon hopefully.

If you haven’t read a copy of Finding Nevo then I recommend finding a copy.

Reading Next – 15
I’m going to be reading The Dark Prophecy when I finish Silver Stars.

I really enjoyed The Hidden Oracle. Especially because we were back at Camp Half-Blood and Percy and Nico were in it.

Again, this is a sequel so I don’t want to give anything away for the people who haven’t read The Hidden Oracle yet. But if you loved Riordan’s other books and haven’t read these then you’re missing out.

I’ve been reading The End of Oz for the last three days and I am determined to finish it today. It’s not a very big book but I keep getting distracted by social media and TV shows…

Ugh, I literally just noticed that the books aren’t even in order in the photo. That’s going to annoy me.

Anyway, I’ve liked the series so far. I haven’t read the novellas yet though. I’ll get to them soon. I think they’ve been a little predictable at times and cheesy but that’s okay. I still liked the story. I don’t want to say too much because this is the fourth book in the series and I don’t want to spoil it for people who haven’t read these books yet. C-c7Y-IU0AE1nNc

I have finally re-read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I think I said this in my last WWW Wednesday post but I’ve wanted to re-read the Harry Potter series since I saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to find Them.

I don’t know when I’ll pick up Goblet of Fire but I’m hoping in the next couple of month. My TBR is too big at the moment.

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book in the series. Closely followed by Deathly Hallows. Obviously I won’t be reviewing this because I’m so biased and have read it so many times. 6

I also read But Then I Came Back in the last week. It wasn’t really what I was expecting at all but I still liked it.

I’ll be reviewing But Then I Came Back sometime this month. I’m not exactly sure when but I’m hoping it’ll be up this month. I’m still really behind on my review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Estelle Laure and I’m thinking of reading her other book. I don’t know when but if I find a copy I’ll check it out. 11

Reading Next –
I’m going to be reading Finding Nevo next. This follows Nevo as he transitions and focuses not only on what Nevo went through but also family, friends, bullying, weight issues and well as other topics.

I posted a Q&A yesterday with Nevo if you want to read it. You can find it here.

I’m really looking forward to reading this.
